'God Particle' All But Discovered By Researchers

The Start Of Something Big (Bang)?
It's been a long time coming, but two independent teams of researchers have all but discovered the elusive Higgs boson particle—perhaps the final piece to the puzzle of understanding the creation of the universe billions of years ago. While it's difficult for laypersons (like yours truly) to get their minds around the concept, it's essentially the 'missing link' in explaining what gives mass to matter. The Higgs particle apparently is the a priori element that 'created' other particles—electrons, protons and neutrons. All of these discoveries were generated by the Large Hadron Collider in Europe, and pave the way for the final confirmation of the Big Bang theory—the explanation of how all of this stuff around us came to be. It sure beats Genesis.
