It's instructive to remember that—all things considerd—the universe
will abide. Long after humans have departed the cosmic stage, old stars
will die, new stars will be born, and the impact of "man-made" carbon
emissions won't be any kind of a factor on anything. In the literal Grand Scheme Of Things, we just don't matter enough to matter.
This lesson was brought home by news that the
Moon's gravitational field exerted subtle influences on the paths of
protons at the "Big Bang" particle accelerator in Switzerland. Even
though the influences were minute, they were enough to force scientists
to continually adjust the proton beam orbits in the accelerator to keep
them on target. So, perhaps the most complex and precise device ever
devised by the mind of man can be flummoxed by a full moon. I think we
can chill a little on the coming 'climate catastrophe'.
