Times Square Alliance Caves In To Superstition

It's bad enough when a huge percentage of the general public is caught up by myth and superstition, it's quite another thing when so-called respected institutions fall prey to silliness as well. The Times Square Alliance, the group behind the New Years celebrations in Times Square every year, recently announced that they will add "lucky charms" to the "13" portion of the big "2013" sign on New Year's Eve. The totems they will affix to the sign include: a four-leaf clover, gold coins, bamboo and a Buddha statue. What, no rabbit's foot? Uh-oh, we're sure to suffer 365 days of bad luck in 2013! Shame on the Alliance for helping to perpetuate triskaidekaphobia.
